Next New

As New Media continues to evolve, I believe that a new type of new media will be something that is the most personal to each and every person that uses it. It would be something like Snapchat or Instagram, but instead of it being on your phone, it would be in real life. What I mean by this is that the next new media invention could be a personalized screen that appears in front of you, similar to something out of the Star Trek movies or Black Panther. It would be a personalized screen in front of your face where you could swipe through pictures or videos. You could also walk around with this screen in front of you and capture real-time video (even though there would probably have to be safety precautions so you don't run into other people). I don't know what it would be called, but it could have the word "now" in the title so that it would be focused on being in the moment.

    I really like this idea Ben! Similar to wearable technology but instead having it project out, I think this would be very cool if it's possible at all. I think what we've seen in movies are now more than ever possible, so hopefully in the near future, we are able to walk around with a screen in front of us so we can be more in the moment and not glued to our phones.

    The idea of having a personalized screen, like a hologram or a User Interface, everywhere you go from your perception is an awesome idea! Certainly unique from all these VR ideas. I think having a UI through our lenses would enable real life to be a greater experience: we'd have features like chat rooms in real life!

Blog about Twitter

When you look at ways to have class discussions, the three methods of Twitter, Blackboard and in-class are all very interesting methods to use. The Twitter discussion is the newest form of discussion, but I don't believe it's the most effective in getting your message across. You only have 280 characters to say something, and not everyone could be using Twitter daily. Therefore, they might not see your message or they might not understand a general description of it. Blackboard is better because it's more detailed, and there's more of a direct place to go and see people's posts on what they think about a certain topic. In-class discussion, however, might be the best form because everyone is gathered together in the same place and is able to explain their own opinions. People can have an open and honest discussion by directly listening and talking to each other.
